Schmith switches - to control lighting in rooms
Switches and switches are integral parts of electrical installations that allow you to turn on and off light sources, such as lamps, wall sconces and chandeliers. Light switches, like electrical outlets, can be simple or high-tech accessories, depending on their type and type.
The basic and most important function of switches is to switch electrical circuits on and off, thus allowing to control the flow of electricity to terminal equipment. Electric switches are commonly used in residential and commercial buildings, for lighting installations, as well as ventilation and air conditioning systems and for controlling electric blinds.
Using light switches allows you to conveniently manage lighting, maintain the safety of using the electrical system, optimize the amount of electricity consumed and adjust the functionality of the premises.
Types and types of switches
Electrical switches and switches come in many types and kinds, differing from each other not only in visual aspect, but also in design, mode of operation and purpose. The most common types of switches are:
- Single-pole switch - or the popular single switch, is the simplest type, used to control a single source of lighting from a single location. Single switches are most often used in rooms and other small spaces.
- Two-pole switch - has a place for two circuit conductors - phase and neutral, so it provides a more complete disconnection of the device from electricity when the switch is off. Two-pole switches are used in bathrooms and rooms with high humidity, because when turned off, they ensure complete disconnection of electricity.
- Staircase switch - is used to control a light source from two different locations, as the name suggests, it can be used on the stairs, allowing you to turn the lighting on and off at both the beginning and end of the stairs. In order for the installation to work correctly, two stair switches are required, placed in appropriate locations.
- Cross switch - is used to control a single point of lighting from multiple locations. Cross switches are often used in long corridors, as an additional element of an installation composed of stair switches.
- N.C. switch - used, for example, in bells, when pressed momentarily closes the circuit, opening it when the switch button is released.
- N .C . switch - a type of switch used in safety switches.
- Tactile switch - is a standard type of switch, responding to touch rather than pressure. Touch switches are very often equipped with dimming functions and are used in modern interiors because of their modern appearance.
- Twilight switch - this type of switch is equipped with an additional light sensor, which automatically turns the lighting on at dusk and off at dawn. In addition, the lighting can be controlled manually, using a button.
What to pay attention to when choosing electrical switches?
When choosing a switch, it is worth paying attention to several of its important features, such as:
- Color of switches - depending on your preference, switches come in a wide range of colors, so you can adapt them to the color scheme of the interiors where they will be installed. The most popular switch colors are white, cream, beige, gray and black switches. Depending on the model, switches can have a matte, glossy or metalized finish.
- Switch illumination - most switch models are equipped with an LED, which makes it easier to locate them in the dark and indicates whether the switch is on or off.
- Degree of protection - many types of switches have a degree of protection, allowing them to be used in areas with increased humidity or increased dust. The degree of protection is expressed by the IP parameter.
- Surface or flush-mounted type - flush-mounted switches require a hole in the wall in order to be hidden and mounted there, surface-mounted switches are screwed to a flat surface and do not require mounting holes.
